The Other Half - The Girl With The Long Black Hair (1967)

Οι Other Half σχηματίστηκαν στο Σικάγο το 1965 και ήταν τρίο (Steve - lead guitar & vocals , Fred – rhythm guitar , George – drums & vocals) μέχρι το 1967 που προστέθηκε ο Greg (bass). Δεν έπαιξαν ποτέ σε κάποιο μουσικό club, αλλά στο υπόγειο μιας πιτσαρίας, σε γάμους και σε διάφορες άλλες ιδιωτικές εκδηλώσεις. Στις 23 Απριλίου του 1967 ηχογράφησαν ένα demo με το τραγούδι "The Girl With The Long Black Hair" στο στούντιο Recordings Unlimited. Τυπώθηκαν κάποια διαφημιστικά αντίτυπα από την Orlyn Records, αλλά το single δεν κυκλοφόρησε ποτέ στα καταστήματα δίσκων. Τα μέλη του συγκροτήματος δεκαετίες αργότερα, ανακάλυψαν ότι το τραγούδι τους είχε συμπεριληφθεί στα Essential Pebbles. Το "The Girl With The Long Black Hair" είναι ένα από τα ωραιότερα garage τραγούδια, ένα πραγματικό διαμαντάκι!!!

The Other Half formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1965. They were a trio (Steve - lead guitar & vocals, Fred - rhythm guitar, George - drums & vocals) until 1967, when Greg (bass) joined them. They never played in a music club, but in the basement of a pizzeria, wedding parties and other private events. On April 23, 1967 they recorded a demo of "The Girl With The Long Black Hair" at Recordings Unlimited studios. Orlyn Records printed some promotional copies, but never a commercial release. Decades later, the band members discovered that their song was included in the Essential Pebbles collection. "The Girl With The Long Black Hair" is one of the finest garage songs, a real gem!!!
